Rendreal: ordering print through the AI agent you already use
Rendreal aims to make printing as easy as ordering it from your personal AI agent: the assistant you already use designs the print, gets a quote, pays and has it delivered.
About the client
Rendreal is a tech company that aims to make printing as easy as ordering it from your personal AI agent. The company combines the ease of sharing a printing intent with AI with the physical reality of publishing. It is a spin-off of Mixam, a successful web-to-print company that pioneered agentic print ordering back in 2025. On the verge of that success, Mixam entered the Cimpress group, and Rendreal started as an independent spin-off to target even more ambitious ways of ordering printed products.
Here is, in a nutshell, how Rendreal takes the next step after Mixam’s AI:
| Mixam web-to-print (with AI agent) | Rendreal agent-to-agent | |
|---|---|---|
| Access | A website with a capable agent that advises on and takes the order | Through any major AI assistant |
| Order | Prints based on existing content | Prints that AI can design from assets, as well as existing content |
| Fulfillment | A network of printing facilities close to the user’s region | A network of printing facilities close to the user’s region |
Rendreal anticipates a future in which prints are not ordered at printers, but by an AI agent the user already uses. The only difference for the user is that their trusted assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or another) can now cross the divide between the digital and the physical world.
Without Rendreal, following the intent “I need a custom printed leaflet” with AI can already yield a stylish material. With Rendreal, that material is rendered print-ready and can actually be ordered, paid for and delivered to the user’s doorstep.
The process
How does the process go?
- The user submits a request to their own agent. The agent uses Rendreal as a toolbox to check that the request is safe and valid, creates or edits the design as needed, cleans up the output and returns the result to the user for approval or further changes.
- If the user wants to order the print through their own agent, that agent uses Rendreal as a broker of printing solutions: getting a quote, specifying the order, paying for it and dispatching it.
- The range of options is defined by Rendreal’s printing partners, so the agent does not guess but navigates foolproof options.
For agents, and humans too
Rendreal is one of the forerunners of the A2A movement, driven by the expectation that various physical services will be offered to users not directly, but through their agents. Both the discovery of service providers and the communication with them will be left to agents. Rendreal is such an intermediary for hundreds of publishing houses around the globe.
Since agent-to-agent print ordering is only picking up now, the Rendreal solution was built so that people can order prints directly too, through:
- A web user interface, where the user works with a chatbot to get the desired design.
- WhatsApp, where a design can be requested from a WhatsApp bot, with no need to open the system or a dedicated website.
For agent-to-agent communication, LLM-based harnesses that talk to external partners are typically built on MCP servers. This is how Rendreal offers its services too, so ChatGPT, Claude or another system the user works with can interact with the solution directly.
Whatever the channel, every request first goes through a router that standardizes it and hands it to the right system within the organization.
Design
No design? No problem
Offering physical prints through the AI agents users are already accustomed to takes friction out of the process. One obstacle usually remains on the way to a print: a printable design. Rendreal offers intent-to-printable-design functionality: users drop their assets, define their goal and get a printable material created for them. The system can prepare:
- Flyers
- Posters
- Business cards
- Postcards
- Bookmarks
Each of these brings different challenges, from space constraints to keeping typography consistent, and the tool is built to handle them. The system can also prepare more sophisticated versions of these products, for example folded leaflets or two-sided bookmarks.
| Capability | How it works |
|---|---|
| Generate a new design from a prompt | The user only writes what they need, and the system does the rest, suggesting the layout, spacing, typography and every other necessary element. |
| Use reference material | The system can be given elements such as copy or images as reference material, not to be used as they are, but to show the desired direction. |
| Edit the current design | After generating a new design or building one from scratch, the tool can move elements, reshape the letters or update the copy. It can edit the whole design or just a selected element without touching the rest. |
| Switch between visual styles | The user can pick from a set of predefined styles to find inspiration, or start from scratch if necessary. |
| Snapshot versions | Versions are saved along the way, so the overall direction is not lost. |
The net effect is that Rendreal turns a technically demanding, error-prone pre-print process into a tool for the user’s agent, or for the user directly.
Summary
The significance of innovation
Behind the shiny cockpit of a vehicle there is the physical reality of wires, valves and engines needed for the drive. The gloss of a polished dashboard does not come without those physical necessities. In the same way, in the world of print, Rendreal handles what is necessary in the physical world so the user does not have to, and can deal with everything in a conversation with their own personal AI.
The seamless integration of a personal AI of the user’s choice with the physical printing world is the unseen innovation Rendreal brings. Built on decades of experience from Mixam, it makes the intent-to-print process a reality, extending what the Claudes and ChatGPTs of the world can do with credible and reliable print services.
