Definition of Agentic AI
Agentic AI is defined as artificial intelligence systems that demonstrate autonomous agency by independently perceiving their environment, making decisions, and executing actions to achieve specific objectives without requiring continuous human guidance. These systems exhibit key characteristics of agency including goal-oriented behavior, environmental awareness, decision-making capabilities, and adaptive responses to changing conditions. Agentic AI systems can plan sequences of actions, reason about consequences, learn from experience, and modify their strategies based on feedback. Unlike reactive AI that simply responds to inputs, agentic AI proactively pursues objectives through deliberate planning and execution. Applications span autonomous vehicles, intelligent personal assistants, robotic systems, and automated trading platforms. The technology combines machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and reasoning engines to create systems that can operate independently while maintaining alignment with human intentions and safety constraints.
