How to deliver and launch a website in 7 days?

Website in 7 days: fast-to-market website development for the annual conference using Agile SCRUM.

About client

The Lower Silesian Center of Cell Transplantation with the National Bank of Marrow Donors was founded in 1986. The high level of the National Bank laboratory has gained international approval in the form of the accreditation of the European Federation of Immunogenetics, which is an indispensable attribute of keeping the Register of Bone Marrow Donors and the selection of recipient pairs — the donor of the transplant.

A challenge to design and deliver a website in 7 days

The Lower Silesian Center had a clear goal. They wanted to launch a website for their conference from scratch. Short term was the main challenge: there were only seven days to design, develop and test the website before launching it in the real world. Andrzej Lange, Professor, and Head of the Lower Silesian Center, wanted to create a great user experience for the target group of the event. That was an annual conference gathering doctors, professors, and interns from all over the world, which meant that the website had to support the international payment methods and completely remote management for potential visitors and speakers. Mr. Lange had specific criteria for the potential IT partner to solve the task:

  • He researched their past works, similar to the website he wanted to achieve.
  • He looked for a young agency with an ambitious team and fresh take.
  • He needed a team ready to take the challenge and start right away.
  • The right IT team would consist of the technical experts, keep in close touch, and report the progress on each step of cooperation.

Agile methodology with on-site cooperation

Vstorm started by gathering the client’s needs through interviews with the CEO and the Lower Silesian Center team to match the technical requirements and business demands. Traditionally, we used the Agile Scrum framework to work with the client for such a project. In addition, Vstorm offered to set up on-site stand-ups with the CEO and the team to ensure smooth communication and development progress. Considering the short terms, the selected designer and software developers started working when we signed the contract.

Vstorm worked in a team of four:

  • One UX/UI designer.
  • One front-end developer.
  • One back-end developer
  • One scrum master at covering the client’s need for quality and on-time delivery.

To ensure that content managers can easily upload texts and images and make changes up to the last minute, VSTORM used the most popular CMS in the world — WordPress — and bootstrap on the front-end.

The end website needed to be high-performing and load quickly all around the globe, giving target users from different countries a first-class experience. That is why VSTORM used some magic tricks to optimize the speed loading of the website.

During the last phase, the team had to integrate marketing tools like the timer on the home page and connect with the client’s email database.

Writing the code according to the cutting-edge practices with code review ensured quick and trouble-free development. VSTORM team also provided the client with instructions on managing content on the web page and successfully finished the works even one day before the deadline.

Challenge successfully done

Vstorm delivered the website from scratch with custom design and features in less than seven days. We built the entire development process on close cooperation with the client’s team in an agile framework. As a result, the client received an end solution for the annual conference that we could use for other events.

Vstorm developed a website according to our expectations. They took the challenge and did it! We built the user interface very intuitive and easy for new users. Perfect team workflow and communication skills allowed us to run the project successfully. The web app is excellent. Vstorm designed and developed a web app to a very high standard. Their good communication skills particularly stood out, as did their ability to manage the work smoothly.
